My process is a kind of experimental echo chamber between myself and “the machine”. I build a base image in vector graphics, physical/digital collages, and layouts.
I feed my work into image-to-image generators to see how the software reinterprets it.
I prefer the mistakes, distortions, and glitches of the AI spits, then use Photoshop to refine or recombine into a new image.
Part of this experimentation involves asemic writing/typography. Placing these elements at different stages, I’m able to strip words of their literal meanings. The work is about communication, conveying a specific tone, feeling, or subtext through visual implication. I’ve had a long association with music and performance and often incorporate motifs that reflect that.
