These illustrations are based off of Samantha Harvey’s novel Orbital, which follow the stories of a six-man spaceship’s orbit around earth as part of their nine month mission in space. The novel often features characters’ contemplations on humanity, the existence of God and existentialism; Upon reading the novel I wanted to explore these thoughts, namely their feelings of disillusionment from the natural world and their own vitality.
