Infinite Surface

In this series of etchings I appropriated the visual language of digital media. On their own, digital symbols and characters are strictly functional, sterile on a deep level, and only superficially meaningful. By filtering them through my body with traditional materials and processes I reinvest them with the emotional and physical qualities they lack in their original context. These prints remove the screen, placing emojis, icons, and windows in the same space as human anatomy and momento mori where their illusory nature becomes grotesquely apparent.

My work shows the human experience in flux between singular and binary, posing questions about power, permanence, identity, and the relationship between self and other.
