I paint everyday scenes scattered with objects that bring people together. Of Vietnamese heritage and raised in France, I draw inspiration from my family’s cultural references, the patterns and textiles of Saigon, but also from fragments of a westernised and idealised vision of Asia, blending hybrid cultures of the diaspora. Painted in acrylic on canvas, this work features elements that hold personal significance for me, shaped by a phenomenological understanding of home : the smell of orchids and incence, the taste of ginger, films and games that feel familiar. My aim is to recreate a liminal space, allowing symbols to intermingle beyond geographical and material boundaries.
