This series of sculptures is part of my ongoing research on decoration, folk art and celebratory objects. Laser cut in wood & hand painted on both sides.
I am a graphic designer and decorator based in Stockholm with a MFA in visual communication from Konstfack. My work and visual research address the intangible activities of mind and soul, and embed aesthetic, emotional and spiritual elements with reference to ornamentation and folk art. My background and residencies in Italy, Nepal and Central Asia have allowed me to formulate a complexity in my approach to decoration where symbols, metaphors, colors and forms are used in a context of cultural significance. My ultimate goal is to transform spaces – whether bi- or tridimensional, or emotional rooms – in occasions for awe and wonder, where life and identity are celebrated.
