Light abstractions

These photographs are a continuation of experiments with projections of light on my studio wall, a process I began to explore last year when the corona-related lockdowns forced me to start working inside.

I have a collection of old slide projectors from previous projects and I realized those could make for perfect light sources. A stained glass project I did in 2019 supplied me with some leftover pieces of coloured glass. I cut simple shapes in pieces of scrap metal and placed those inside slides so they could act as masks for the light I was projecting. By adjusting the direction of the light sources and by moving around with the camera I could distort the perspective, resulting in vibrant graphic imagery in which I am playing with the perception of space.
