Submission Painting

Material States

My practice draws from the language of avant-garde fashion, embracing construction and deconstruction, repetition, concealment, and material experimentation. Pattern paper becomes texture rather than instruction, while materials associated with clothing, building, and utility are layered until their original purpose begins to disappear.

Influenced by avant-garde fashion, brutalist architecture, and natural erosion, the work explores what remains after function is removed. Creases, seams, fragments, buried instructions, and irregular surfaces serve as evidence of earlier forms. Rather than seeking perfection, each painting preserves process, change, and the traces of what came before.
