Our Sometimes Home is a multimedia exhibition about inherited grief and anxiety as two characters navigate home life, internalizing what 90-00s pop culture suggests about the ideal family. How do children connect to the TV, and what do they absorb about American culture while their parents work?
The exhibition features large acrylic paintings following two hand characters through grief and voyeurism while escaping into the TV. Grounding the paintings are murals of distorted furniture shadows, a large-format poem, and a silent projection standing in for parents we never see.
Our Sometimes Home invites viewers to reconsider messages about family absorbed in childhood, and question how nostalgia can soften or distort the truth within those memories.
