Pastime is an illustration series exploring spectatorship, consumerism, and idol fandom in contemporary East Asian popular culture.
Through six richly detailed illustrations, the project transforms theatres, record stores, markets, and devotional spaces into imagined environments. Using repetition, saturated colours, and surreal compositions, the series explores how collective attention shapes public identities and how emotional attachment becomes intertwined with consumption.
The work reflects on the relationships between watching and being watched, individual identity and collective participation, and pleasure and consumer culture.
