My practice explores the human condition
within an increasingly overstimulated, unstable
and mediated reality. Working primarily with oil
painting, I create figurative scenes that move
between surrealism, satire and psychological
portraiture. Political turbulence, influencer
culture, digital media and consumerism form the
environment of my work, but I am ultimately
interested in their effect on us: anxiety, desire,
loneliness, self-image, empathy and our need for
connection.
Influenced by Baudrillard’s ideas of hyperreality,
I explore the unstable boundary between reality
and performance.
