Gabriel Moreau's practice examines the shifting conditions of contemporary image culture and the ways images are produced, circulated, and consumed. Working primarily through painting, he explores the effects of accelerated visual circulation, where images are increasingly detached from their original contexts and encountered as fragments within an incessant flow of information.
Moreau's paintings emerge from digitally modelled and rendered imagery, drawing intuitively from art history, popular culture, and the visual excess of the internet. Sculptural elements are digitally. constructed, staged, and composed before being translated into painting. Through this process, images move between digital and physical states, challenging the distinction between image as information and image as object.
