Reclaiming the narrative of identity is a portrait series shot in Soweto that reclaims Black self-representation through adornment, gesture and home. The body becomes an archive — church uniforms, red balloons, braided wings, pearls and printed fabrics as tools of resistance, softness and celebration. The work challenges the colonial gaze that has framed African identity and instead centers everyday mythology and pride.Instagram: @ershawtherabbi_
