Along the course of the river Rhine, Strasbourg is a border territory woven through with water. Over three thousand years, the river has watched peoples and empires pass: Celts, Romans, Huns, Franks, Germanic tribes, then French and Germans in alternation. Villages have been swallowed up, wars have ravaged the banks, crises have shaken populations. Today, climate crises, globalized wars, populism and political fractures threaten once again. Empires pass. The river flows on.
