Saint Citrus is an in-studio still life series exploring how the creative act presents itself. Across an imagined set of velvet and household items, oranges act as stand-ins for the shape of an idea. The imagery of Saint Citrus treats creativity as something communal rather than private, making it inherently public in spirit, even when intimate in form.
My work is often a way of negotiating with personal tension. Scenes are built not for accuracy, but for tonal misalignment, anticipation, and emotional static. Having been born and raised in Brooklyn, I am familiar with being taken by the energy of a city. While rooted in still life, Saint Citrus engages public connection and vibrancy through familiar motifs and experience.
