Lizzie Quirke is an Edinburgh-based artist. Her work spans from observational studies to abstraction, collage, textiles, animation, projection and printmaking. She wants to evoke a ‘sense of place’ and is inspired by records of where she has been; or where she would like to be. She has been working on depicting a space in a visually simple way.
Heavily inspired by modern art, graphic design and murals - Lizzie’s mixed-media work incorporates contrasting textures, shapes and block colours. Having worked as a freelance illustrator, graphic designer and temporary tattoo designer, she likes to create lots of different kinds of artwork, and is interested in finding lots of different modes of showcasing it. Lizzie has enjoyed projecting both animations and still images onto walls, creating temporary artworks around Edinburgh.
