I work with collage and cut-paper appliqué, using colored paper and simple abstract forms. I like reducing things to their essentials: a leaf, a sun, a wave of color, a few circles. Color does most of the talking: bright, flat and a little playful. Every shape carries a slight volume, a small lift off the surface, and lately I've been pushing this further, moving toward deeper relief, where paper starts to behave like sculpture.
This simplicity is a response to a world that already feels complicated enough. I want to make things that are calm, direct and easy to look at. At the same time, my work is a way of simplifying my own inner world, which is layered and tangled. Cutting, arranging and layering colored paper by hand helps me slowly translate that complexity into clear shapes, bold color and a quiet, personal kind of order
