Slightly Out of Control

I’m Roberto Conti, an Italian artist working under the name ROBC. My work moves between hand-drawn ink and digital image-making, building dense black-and-white worlds where crosshatched portraits, animal fragments and disembodied hands float inside hypnotic, vibrating patterns. I’m drawn to the tension between the handmade and the engineered: the slow, obsessive marks of a pen set against the precision and logic of graphic design. Alongside drawing and large-format prints, I make hand-drawn pop-up pieces, hand-painted T-shirts and kinetic typography, always searching for new surfaces to push that same visual language onto. Whatever the medium, I treat every image like a system, with rhythm, structure and contrast, then let instinct break it open. For me, the best work feels both meticulously designed and slightly out of control.
