There is a certain meditative stillness to the area of the country that exists within the bottom-states along the Mexican / American border. Between the cities, everything seems a little abandoned, a little out-of-time, and yes, the people seem just a little bit on edge. But there's also a lot of beauty there.
I tried to capture these things in the images i took while driving along the edge of the country in late August, during one of the worst heat-waves imaginable to man.
