This painting is a conjunction of stories put together. the title comes from a duppy story my parents used to tell about a couple asking a man for directions i think and he bares these horrible, shark-like teeth. they run away and then a little further they saw another man and he asked what happened and they were telling him the story and then he said "you mean teeth like these!?" and he bared the same shark-like teeth. that's how i remember them ending the story. i like to imagine they all just laughed about it. that's the story behind the teeth.

The wider creature, so to speak, is somewhat of an attempt at alchemy; a wolf trying to turn into a bat. wolves and bats are two animals I've been heavily fascinated with since I was a child.
