I’ve always felt like a fish out of water, in my hometown, my country, and my own womanhood. Weighed down by stereotypes, taboos, and misogyny, I spent years distancing myself from my roots in search of identity. In 2023, I left my job in Amsterdam and embarked on a 408-day sabbatical. Traveling by bike and van, I reconnected with time, sunlight, and nature, and Tempo Bello was born. Through pop and surreal imagery, my photos explore belonging, stereotypes, sexuality, and hidden traces of the past. Tempo Bello reflects how light, nature, and memory intertwine, guiding me back to myself. It celebrates nature’s light and the return to the roots that shaped me.
