The Drowning Pharaoh

This work consists of an artwork (acrylic on wood) as well as a photographic series regarding how the colors fuse into each other, become harmonious, which is not the case in the real painting. The camera captures something that does not exist, it sees what we don't see, it is perhaps clairvoyant. This project is one of my only works in which I define the meaning afterwards. In other words, I am the equivalent of the viewer, I am no longer THE interpreter. The title refers to pharaohs because of the shape of the head, as well as the point of view. In Ancient Egypt, faces were drawn sideways, with a misplaced eye. Funny enough, that's still how I draw it. "Drowning" is a cultural implication of the inundation of the Nile River in this same period. These civilizations were threatened by this recurrent natural disaster, just like t
