These are five new paintings from my recent duo exhibition at Tchotchke Gallery, which also features work by Cha.

"Both Canadian-born artists identify with the ubiquitous pressure to make oneself and one’s family proud through individual success in adulthood. While this achievement looks different for each artist, their broad-ranging works cohere around thoughtful color pairings and the personal sentiments behind these choices. 

With differences in locale and upbringing, each painter explores what “the good life” means to them. Is it defined by working hard to acquire enough wealth in order to partake in whatever one’s heart desires or is it something less avaricious? Is it even possible to attain?"
