THE HOUSE OF OTHERS

It is a project that aims at portraiture without the subject, that seeks a human element beyond of its literal self. A way to live the life of others.
My fascination with the idea of such kind of portrait is rooted in the first approach to Van Gogh's diptych "Vincent's Chair with His Pipe" and "Gauguin's Armchair" (1888): the idea of a dear object turned into flesh; a mundane component of life elevated to incarnation of deeper meaning and psychological state; the absent protagonists that is very much present.
I wanted to capture the traces of strangers' life, the voluntary clues that people have left behind of their existence meant for others to find. It almost felt like putting on someone else's clothes, having the same level of intimacy.
(35mm camera Voigtlander Bessa R3A and Nokton 40mm, mainly fujifilm)
