Inspired by the current Y2K revival, I wanted to step back in time, see how people back then imagined now, and explore the gap between the two. I crashed those ideas into my own memories of that era as a little kid. What I found was a sense of optimism we’ve lost along the way, and an opportunity to use it to shape a future for creativity. The result is The Photoshoot of the Millennium, a party at the turn of the millennium restaged with a crew of 11 in my Bow studio. Everything happened in front of a camera with real people, from the beige buffet to the Millennium Bug cake that loses its head by the end of the night. I then built my own AI tools to carry that one shoot across a website, a social campaign and months of content, keeping the craft human and letting the tech scale it.
