The Widening Sky

A photographic series made during my first visit to Iceland in the autumn of 2026. Upon arriving in Reykjavík, I felt immediately engulfed by the vastness of the sky and seemingly endless terrain. Both beautiful and disorienting, the unfamiliar landscape inspired an intuitive visual practice through which I sought to capture its sensorial presence.

As the days passed, this practice became more introspective. The paradoxical experience of feeling displaced by my surroundings and dwarfed by the immensity of the natural world led me to question my own identity and place within it. Allowing the island to move and shape me, I gradually experienced a dissolution of the familiar self, building images that reflected this shifting relationship.
