Ummu Hubur and the Army of Monsters is a series of portraits portraying the army of monsters fighting alongside the Ummu Hubur in the ancient creation narrative in the Enuma Elish. This series explores an archaic definition of monster that describes something that exists outside of what we expect. Each monster is a majestic romp of bodies and gender identifiers. These monsters are an homage all of the beautiful things about us that we were taught to hate, hide or hinder. Each is a conceptual portrait of every person I’ve ever seen and all of their most unique qualities.
