Pedro Molizane, also known as pwdro, is a Brazilian artist, illustrator, and designer working across digital painting and graphic design. His work is influenced by artists like H. R. Giger and Francis Bacon, as well as the surreal and experimental language of Polish poster design from the 1980s and 1990s. Airbrush is another major influence. Pedro grew up around his father’s work as an airbrush artist, painting helmets, cars, and motorcycles, which had a lasting impact on his visual language.
This piece takes Salvador Dalí’s Bulgarian Child Eating a Rat as its point of departure, reimagining its unsettling imagery through a contemporary lens. It reflects on how we are introduced from an early age to romanticized ideas of wealth, excess, and material desire, eventually becoming consumed by the things we are taught to value.
