This photo series is about girlhood and how people who have experienced the identity of being a girl in different ways. Girlhood is a universal yet highly individual experience, and this body of work celebrates this complex relationship. My approach to this project stems from my affinity for documentary storytelling. It is a tribute to my close friends and family members who trusted me to photograph these inward moments that reflect a much larger narrative. These photos document community, solitude, transformation, nostalgia, friendship, and femininity. Once placed together, this series creates visual commonality in the female experience. I am drawn to the subtleties that define this fleeting period and invite viewers to reflect on the universal experiences that shape our individual stories from when we were girls together.
