Matthew Dettmer is presenting recent paintings focusing on clothing, the body and their form together. In these works Dettmer explores clothing choices and how they are indicative of who we are. He borrows form from sources such as boy bands, skaters and people walking the streets around him. Using scale, cropping and a smooth flat painting technique, Dettmer is presenting bold work which talks to the traditions of painting as well as contemporary aesthetics.
