White

White (working title)
35mm color negative film, chemical manipulation.

After feeling overwhelmed and desiring a state of emptiness, I stopped eating for 3 straight days living on coffee, cigarettes and vitamins. By going through this process I Eventually threw up. The bodily fluids were then used to chemically manipulate and destroy the film emulsion, then developed it using black and white chemistry. In this body of work I use my body instead of a camera as an apparatus to create imagery, blurring the border between nothingness and saturation through the color white, initially defining it as the absence of color and subsequently referencing the composition of white light as the saturation of all the colors of the spectrum; making an analogy of the creative process and exploring the limits of what is called photography.
