Christo began working with photography in Bulgaria in the late 1980s. Over time, photography became for him a lasting field of experience and inquiry, both behind the camera and in the darkroom. His early participation in exhibitions and competitions in Bulgaria marked the beginning of a path that continued in France after 2008. At the heart of his work lies the conviction that photography should not embellish the world, but bring it into sharper focus. This is a body of work that functions like a bridge resting on three pillars - the reality, the document, and the artwork. His photography does not depend on effect, but on the acuity of vision and on the image’s capacity to hold the inner charge of the moment.
