Little Drifters / Vancouver
Over the weekend we held our “Little Drifters” picnic at Trout Lake, here in Vancouver, and it was a total blast! Thank you all for coming out and making my day! The Little Drifters project was a great way to encourage people to get their creative juices flowing on an otherwise lazy summer day. Thanks Jeff & the Vancouver Sun for putting it together & thanks for feauturing my photos!

Cheers for posting a pic of my lil guy launching his pirate ship. He had a blast putting it together and watching it sail out to do battle with the ducks

Really nice project reminds me of the times I would go hiking in the mountains with my sister and dad. We would go fishing and we made some of these little floaters as well.
Plus I would marry the girl in the 37th pic

I like how in the second picture you can see Levi about to aggressively throw his boat into the lake…probably in an attempt to sink someone else’s masterpiece.

Thanks for this great Saturday afternoon activity. I spent days thinking about how to build my little drifter and eventually wove some iris branches from my back garden and then added a little moss pillow, stick and leaf person, and pea pod lifeboat from my picnic at Trout Lake. It’s so fun to play!
you might have had the only boat with iris branches!
Love this project! I looked up images of driftwood boats for a posting I wrote to celebrate your project. ( http://bcfamily.ca/?p=2850 ) Just like the lanterns made for the Lantern Festival at Trout Lake, each of these boats is so charming and precious! Thanks for organizing the project.
