  • These are beyond cool! Wondering if the lighting in the last a photographic effect, or did he shade it that way?

    • Yeah, I was wondering the same thing- would be pretty legit if the latter. And if not, it’s still a nice presentation

      • its a photo of a drawing in progress!

  • 0_0 NICE

    (same question..)

  • the old man’s face is absolutely gorgeous

  • Sebastian

Wow these are beyond wonderful. These are tidy, rigid, and amazing. I love the girl with the skull on top of her head.

  • I was wondering the same thing. Beautiful!

  • Joe

The last picture is very nice, I love the eyes!

A Camera Made from 32,000 Drinking Straws

Photographer Michael (Mick) Farrell and Cliff Haynes perfected a way of capturing images using a wooden box filled with 32,000 drinking straws. Started in 2007, and undergoing several different versions, the Straw Camera basically works by processing the light collected through each straw (as opposed to a pinhole camera which creates an image from a single point).

Due to the multitude of perspectives the resulting image looks a bit like a pointillist painting made up of many, tiny dots. See more images below or click here to check out the book recently released about the project!
