Wonderfully weird. Very interesting artistic voice. The “off camera” gaze captures a certain suburban malaise.

It seems very real! Good job done.

Wow! These are intriguing. I’m certainly projecting my own experiences onto these paintings but the subjects seem to be longing for something outside of their immediate reality. Comforting and alarming all at once. Keep it up!

Artist Spotlight: j.frede

Beautifully combined images in this series by Los Angeles-based artist j.frede. Made with seemingly banal landscape photographs purchased at flea markets and arranged into a single scene, these collages effectively merge different times and places together, creating entirely new landscapes. The gorgeous framing is really makes this simple idea quite striking. More images from Fiction Landscapes below.

Video of the Day: “Life is a Dance” by Sebastian Linda

Incredible energy in the filming/editing of this dance video by artist/filmmaker Sebastian Linda. Visual style is very similar to Leonardo Dalessandri’s “Watchtower of Turkey” (featured here) but I’d say it’s a much better fit with this type of content. Check out “Life is a Dance” below!
