This beautifully crafted wood version of Wall-E is just incredible. I believe a company called Morpheus produced it but I’m not sure if they had the rights as information about the project and images have been taken off the net. I never saw the movie, is it worth seeing?
Allow me to introduce some local talent, Vancouver-based Andy Chung! Andy submitted a skateboard design to Project #4 which led me to his website and the rest, as they say, is history (and by history I mean I snooped around his website, grabbed a few images and wrote this little blurb – I thought it sounded cooler the other way). Andy is currently in his fourth year at Emily Carr, the same art school (now University) I graduated from.
Another site in the vein of Threadless and DesignbyHumans has entered the arena. Desired Hearts. How are they any different? “With every shirt you order we’ll give at least $2 to the charity of your choice. Why? Because its the right thing to do.”
I like seeing this sort of thing, and would love to see them succeed. The site is brand spankin’ new (still beta in fact) so that’s a heads up for all you designers – Get over there before every other kid with their finger on the halftone filter does.
Now you can Skype in style! This is the world’s first VoIP phone made of wood! Two years ago HULGER launched the ZIRICOTE concept design made from an African wood to huge acclaim and this month they debuted the finished PAPPA phone, with a design more suited to production. It is handcrafted from a sustainable American walnut, in Montreal Canada, by a company called Furni. Below is the ZIRICOTE and hit “more” to see several shots of the PAPPA.
Max (endeavor) just sent over a few shots of my 2008/09 High Five Series snowboards getting put to work! Photos courtesy of the master, Scott Serfas (senior photographer for Transworld Snow among other things). I am STOKED to see my creations in action – and on a staircase made of ice no less!
