An otherworldly series by Italian photographer Luca Galavotti. Featuring the seemingly martian landscape of Lanzarote, part of the Canary Islands archipelago, “Lava” captures the dramatic shapes and colours of ferrous surfaces, carved stratifications and fields of petrified lava. Modified over centuries yet conveying a sense of timelessness, Galavotti’s images are just as much about the inner meditations evoked as the actual outward displays.
