A selection of paintings by New York City-based artist Doron Langberg. Langberg’s large-scale portraits offer an exploration of queerness and intimacy that is contextualized through the everyday and inspired by personal observations of those closest to him. Figures often appear in relaxed positions and domestic settings which speaks to the close connections Langberg has with the people he paints as well has his emphasis on conveying queer lived experiences and human touch, whether from a loved one or the surface of a canvas.
“If I’m painting a friend, and it looks like them, it’s a measure of my empathy, and of the painting’s potential to feel like a living person.”
