We’re excited to announce another Booooooom Passion Projects Open Call! This is your chance to tell us about a creative project that you’d like to be able to bring to life and potentially get some money to put towards it. Our goal with Booooooom has always been to serve and support our community and we know the pressure that many of you are feeling—we feel it too. For some of you it may be difficult to even think about making anything right now but we want to try and give you a little breathing room and make it a little easier. This opportunity is strictly for our members (we’re thankful for all of you) — if you’re not a member, you can learn more about becoming one here.
For the rest of this month, we are going to put 20% of all print sales from our store as well as 50% of any new yearly member or yearly supporter plans towards funding as many Passion Projects as possible. Our dream is to be able to fund dozens of your projects down the road but being an independent site, with a small team and limited resources, means we’re starting small and working towards this goal. If you want to support us, and ultimately support artists in this community, you can check out some new prints in our shop or consider becoming a member or supporter.
So what we want to know is: If we gave you $500 to put towards a creative project, what would you do with the money? Keep in mind we want people to stay home and practice social distancing, so these project ideas should be ones that can be executed safely. Whatever it is, your idea must be something you can complete within a month of receiving the money.
If you’re interested you can check out one of our fav Passion Projects from the past, photographer Mikayla Whitmore’s “You, And You, And You” (although shooting portraits of many different people, albeit behind glass, would not be something safe to do right now).
