“The Way South” by Photographer Katie Sadie

Currently based in Hamilton, Ontario, photographer Katie Sadie spent a year living in her van back in 2015. After moving out of the photo studio she had been living and working in, Sadie sold most of her material possessions and traded photo equipment for film before embarking on a six-month-long road trip throughout the United States with her Pentax 6×7 camera. She traveled to fifteen states in total, documenting life as she saw it along the way, and returning home to Toronto with more than seventy rolls of film to be processed. “The Way South” is the culmination of this work, picturing a cross section of the U.S. through Sadie’s eyes.
