Photographer Spotlight: Jamie Holland Jr.

Jamie Holland Jr. is a photographer and writer based in New Jersey and the greater tri-state area. His work brings together themes of family, history, and human relationships, using the photographic practice to delve into aspects of his early life that are too painful to be discussed openly. “I am very interested in this phenomenon of collective coping,” he explains. “The unspoken ways that relationships choose to move on and the ways that these things of the past rear their head in sometimes beautiful ways.”

Among his recent projects is a series exploring Holland Jr.’s familial relationships, black and Latinx identities, and the pride and self-discovery tied to these connections. He considers how these histories inform new relationships and attempts at love.

Jamie Holland Jr. is one of 60+ photographers featured in our new photo book, Magic Hour. Check it out in our shop, and see more of his work below!
