A selection of recent paintings by Lawton, Oklahoma-based artist Robert Peterson. Specializing in figurative painting with a concentration on portraiture, Peterson sees a void in contemporary galleries and museums, which he aims to fill by creating “beautiful works of art that reflect a softer side of black people, yet still shows their strength and resilience.” His colorful works have been exhibited both nationally and internationally, and he is gaining recognition as a celebrated emerging artist.
