Artist Spotlight: Helena Margrét Jónsdóttir

Helena Margrét Jónsdóttir is a painter based in Reykjavík, Iceland. Referencing the visual language of the screen, her paintings contrast hyper-realistic, mundane objects with flat, monochromatic backgrounds. They often feature what she describes as “a pathetic protagonist who is trying to have a good time but failing miserably. Sometimes she gets liquified, other times she is haunted by scary ghosts and spiders who have a plan of their own.”
