Artist Spotlight: Wanda Comrie

Australian painter Wanda Comrie’s passion for native plants shines through in her colorful still life paintings. Living in the Margaret River region of Australia with her husband, two dogs, and one chicken, Comrie is a self-taught painter with an educational background in graphic design. Realistic in rendering, her observational compositions showcase the unique Australian light, featuring mostly handmade ceramics and glassware. Of her practice, she says: “Responding to shadow play in domestic scenes and locally found botanicals, I reflect on the beauty and complexity that everyday living can provide.”
