“Abiogenesis” by Artist Erik Jones

In his upcoming solo exhibition, “Abiogenesis,” Florida-based painter Erik Jones blends concepts of creation and human adaptability, reflecting on the theory of evolution from inorganic non-living matter into what we are today. Using AI 3D generated images of people as references, he begins his process with a realistic, ambiguous figure, followed by the creation of an abstracted body made by collaging hardened drips of paint in a multitude of colors. The evolution of his paintings, from start to finish, mirrors the themes that his work addresses.

“Abiogenesis” will be on display at Hashimoto Contemporary, San Francisco September 3rd-24th, with an opening reception on Saturday, September 3rd from 4pm-7pm. See more from the exhibition below!
