Artist Spotlight: Rafael Mayani

Based in Vancouver, Canada, Rafael Mayani works as an Associate Creative Director at Giant Ant by day, and a freelance illustrator by night (after his son Rio goes to bed). He got his start studying Industrial design at UNAM in Mexico City, before pivoting to a Visual Arts course at Atelier Design School in Barcelona. Since then, his vibrant, whimsical illustrations have appeared in a variety of media, from children’s picture books to magazines and newspapers.
