A selection of paintings by Cable Griffith (previously featured here). Cable Griffith is an artist, curator and educator from Burien, Washington. His recent exhibition, “Sightings,” combines works from Griffith’s “Self-fulfilling Prophecy” and “Domestic Visitation” series which reflects on the unique period of lockdowns and social distancing. Mixed with a general fear of the unknown, the work explores ideas around information fatigue and the rising socio-political divisions within communities:
“These paintings share a domestic perspective, but contrast between a more pictorial representation of suburban longing and desire with a more tactile, yet photographic, wall-hanging. Combining fabric-dyeing and photograms (from UFO photos), the Domestic Visitation series blends a bohemian mundanity with a vision of the uncanny.”
