“Earthquake Country” by Artist Rob Sato

A new collection of drawings, paintings, and collaborative textile works by Los Angeles-based artist Rob Sato. Rooted in his daily drawing and dream documentation practice, Sato explores the tension between the chaotic forces that shape our existence and the need for rest and restoration. The result is a blend of figuration, abstraction, and experimentation that considers the literal and metaphorical tremors that define contemporary life:

“Drawing is my main source of play and my main tool for seeing and thinking. This body of work is marked by a period of trying to commune with the world I encounter every day, and to make art more intuitively than ever.”

The exhibition highlights Sato’s collaborations with local artists, including Ako Castuera, Graham Keegan, and Rosie Brand, who translate Sato’s drawings and paintings into textiles. The artworks are an invitation to reflect and reimagine as we navigate spiritual, physical, and cultural unrest. Check out “Earthquake Country” at Subliminal Projects in Los Angeles until July 26th.
