A series reconsidering the Albertan landscape by photographer Benjamin Jossinet. Jossinet is based in western Canada and received his BFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design in 2025. Dividing his time between personal and freelance commercial work, Jossinet’s artistic practice moves in two interrelated directions. One grounded in a close attentiveness to people. The other driven by a search for the human traces left behind as we move through the world. “Proof Without Claim” is one of Jossinet’s longest, ongoing bodies of work and reflects his long held interest in the history, artifacts, and geography of southern Alberta:
“Proof Without Claim positions the Albertan landscape not as a place of identity or spectacle, but as a field of evidence, as a site where human impression is registered indirectly, through residues, direct encounters and conflicting histories. It is a reflection on the shaping of human presence as it recedes into the earth.”
Benjamin Jossinet participated in our 2026 Book Award open call and made our shortlist.
