Penmai Chongtoua (Sensei Mai) is a second generation Hmong-American woman with Indigenous roots to Southeast Asia. She aims to reconcile severed relationships between Earth and humans through a series of intimate rituals of care and reciprocity which are embodied within her research and various artistic modes of communication.
Inspired by the transmutation of energy and materials, she creates a survey of different environmental artifacts, as an applied epistemological environmental ethos, to encourage contemporary pathways of living and sustaining one another and the more-than-human world.
