I had dabbled in different art mediums for many years, but nothing ever stuck until I started experimenting with collage and mixed media. I really enjoy taking something that already exists, and turning it into something new. I am a huge fan of old things, and I love using vintage books and magazines in my work. My work is very contemporary, in juxtaposition with the age of the materials. I had found a box of vintage animal facts cards from Illustrated Wildlife Treasury at a thrift store, and I have used them as surfaces for this series of bold, mini collage and mixed media pieces, with parts of the original card peeking out from the paper and paint.
